Thief Goat

One day, my uncle prepared roasted (unripe) Plantain for his children to eat when they got home from school.
He prepared this relatively easy dish whenever his wife went to the market because he really couldn't cook.

Traditionally, roasted plantain is never eaten without some accompaniment. So, in addition, he prepared some fresh pepper with oil which he kept alongside the plantain.

The sweet smell of the food drifted through the yard and proved so tempting that a goat went and ate the plantain.

My uncle was so angry that he grabbed the goat and gave him a "dirty" slap. The slap didn't relieve my uncle's anger.

He told the goat that "since you've eaten the Plantain who are you leaving the pepper for? You have to eat it too!!".

He then forced open the goat's mouth and poured the fresh pepper and oil down its throat.

That day, I saw that a goat could shed tears.
