As I go through all kinds of feelings and experiences in my journey through life -- delight, surprise, chagrin, dismay -- I hold this question as a guiding light: "What do I really need right now to be happy?" What I come to over and over again is that only qualities as vast and deep as love, connection and kindness will really make me happy in any sort of enduring way.
The greatest degree of inner tranquility comes from the development of love and compassion. The more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being.
Here is the test to find whether your mission on earth is finished. If you're alive, it isn't.Life's not always fair. Sometimes you can get a splinter even sliding down a rainbow. ~Terri Guillemets
“Just remember, the same as a spectacular Vogue magazine, remember that no matter how close you follow the jumps: Continued on page whatever. No matter how careful you are, there's going to be the sense you missed something, the collapsed feeling under your skin that you didn't experience it all. There's that fallen heart feeling that you rushed right through the moments where you should've been paying attention. Well, get used to that feeling. That's how your whole life will feel some day. This is all practice. None of this matters. We're just warming up.”
"To be always intending to make a new and better
life but never to find time to set about it is as
to put off eating and drinking and sleeping from
one day to the next until you're dead."
Honor your feelings. If you need a break from high fashion for a bit, put on your comfy jeans and not a stitch of makeup. If you're in the mood to celebrate, then don your gorgeous new top -- who cares that it's Sunday?
