Give em' water, food and shelter then will grow

Gimme a pen, paper & a mic! I’ll eavesdrop into thoughts of Gods! An MC, song writer, leader, & Uni graduate. From a colony of Nigeria comes Teekay Da Newborn. Born Adetokunbo Omoyele meaning “Crowned king overseas & a child deserves a home” in 1982 Lagos.

His attraction to music manifested at an early age, in the days of black & white tv when stations halted at midnight. Lagos was obsessed with ragga.

”With stars in the sky, kids from the Area would meet at a shop to freestyle & make beats, hitting vessels with palms & sticks. Rhyming in pigeon, we’d battle one another. When a winner emerged, we’d take the battle to the next hood to see who’s the most skilful”

Teekay fell in love with hip-hop in the late 80’s when he saw Sugarhill Gang’s video ‘Rappers delight’

“I remember been stunned by the beat, articulacy, rhythm of the spoken words & from that day I knew to be a rapper” He became a member of ‘Poetic Leaders’ under the guidance of Scott, a pioneer. Teekay penetrated the Nigerian industry through competitions & live performances. He elevated his writings to poetry & then to song. He’s been crafting, reinventing his style, & honing his skills which are evident in all of his work.

In 2002, escaping poverty that seems to loom over the African countries especially Nigeria, Teekay moved to Ireland where he met his partner #Ashman. “We’re the best kept secret in the hip-hop industry” Teekay is always looking for opportunities to perfect his art, he’s not afraid to try something new by co-operating with any artist. He’s performed at various events; charities, fashion shows, etc. His style is unique; his delivery is tailor-made. As the world quests for real hip-hop, look no further; Teekay Da Newborn is to release 'BabySteps'

“To quench the thirst of originality, versatility, & lyricism; the way forward is hip-hop, a huge amount of passion, patience, & perseverance was invested into the production & when its available, I hope you enjoy it”

Let the child be born!
