Mohamed Yacine Camara otherwise known as “Ibn Kenyatta “hails
originally from Guinea (Conakry) where he was Born, Just four months
after his birth, his parents migrated to Liberia (Monrovia) where he
grew up. He returned to live in Conakry due to a deadly and painful
civil crisis that erupted in Liberia and lasted for more than a
decade. His musical journey began in middle school as a result of a
reunion with a childhood friend. The two acolytes founded the group
"Da Messiah. “The group will appear in a few charitable and school
events drawing large crowds; the group was later dissolved. He
departed Conakry Guinea, to pursue his quest for a higher education in
France. While in France he met the leader of the “Freedom Fighters”, a
group in Toulouse, France. This meeting allowed him to resume his
musical career because they will be with him at shows, boxes and sound
system in different Toulousains rooms. Thus he crossed path with
Live-I Engineer, (Charles Guillou), which inspired and allowed him to
make sense of his musical project. With time he finds the originality
of his sound and his voice. Ibn Kenyatta is a multicultural singer
song writer who gives a different view of the world through his songs.
He sings in English, French, Sousous, Mandingo, Fulani and Patios. In
2011 with the collaboration of Live-I, he realizes his first
promotional CD maxi single in titled; “Zion Woman” with four hit
songs, followed with the music video the same year.
