PAINFUL EXPERIENCE: Nigerian fractures leg while trying to escape from officers

A NIGERIAN fell and broke his right leg while trying to flee from an Immigration Department raid on Saturday.
The 28-year-old, who had no valid travel documents, had tried to escape through the roof of a two-storey shoplot in Jalan Anggerik 41, Taman Johor Jaya, near here, during the 6.30pm incident.
Johor Immigration Department deputy director Mohamad Nasir Abas said the suspect had climbed to the ceiling of the shoplot's first floor when Immigration officers raided the premises.
However, he failed to escape and instead, fell to the floor, breaking his leg.
"During the raid, we found the suspect sitting beside a cupboard in one of the rooms.
"He was moaning in pain while nursing his injured leg, which was badly swollen.
"There was no other person in the shoplot at the time.
"He did not have valid documents on him."
It is learnt there were two other people living in the shoplot with the suspect, but they had managed to escape earlier.
Also on Saturday, another illegal alien of Nigerian origin was detained in a separate raid.
Nasir said the 30-year-old was detained after Immigration officers cut the locks of a house in Taman Johor Jaya during the 5.35pm operation.
He said the suspect had refused to open the door when told to do so.
After cutting the locks and gaining entry, the suspect was found to possess a passport which was believed to have been forged.
Both suspects are being detained at the Pekan Nanas Immigration depot in Pontian pending further investigations.
