Izunna I. Okafor (born 9th Jan 1994) is a Young Nigerian Writer who hails from Ebenator in Nnewi South Local Government Area, Anambra State Nigeria. He had his secondary school at Community Secondary School Ebenator. Currently, He is a Student of Nnamdi Azikiwe Awka in Anambra State, Nigeria. He also holds O.N.D in public Administration from the same school. Izunna is award winning creative Young Writer who has written and published so many books which have been widely praised and applauded. He is the Author of these books (novels) : 'IKEM'S ADVENTURE' (his first book) which was published in Nigeria in the year 2012, during his secondary school era; 'THE CURSE OF A WIDOW' his second novel (published in 2013); 'THE FAITHFUL CHILDREN' his third book (published in 2014 and received Outstanding recognition in the SYNW/ Ezenwa Ohaeto Prize for Young Nigerian Novelists 2015); 'AJO ENYI', his fourth book published in 2015 (the winner of The 2015 Society of Young Nigerian Writers Award/Pita Nwanna Award for Igbo Literature, and The 2015 Nigerian Writers Award/2015 Indigenous Writer of The Year Award, and shortlisted for The 2015 Young Nigerian Writer of The Year). He also has numerous articles/ essays, poems and short stories to his credit, most of which are published online; as well as collection of short stories and poetries. Aside being a talented award-winning young creative writer, Izunna is also an Igbo activist who has played and continued to play great roles in ensuring the sustenance and the promotion of the Igbo Language and culture. He preaches and takes the 'gospel' of Igbo language and the need for its sustenance to various nooks and crannies, ranging from schools to churches and to other public places, being part if his own contribution and strategic measures to ensure that the Igbo Language does not go extinct as predicted by the UNESCO in 2012. One of his debut articles titled 'SAY NO TO IGBO EXTINCTION' has also contributed and been supportive in preaching the 'gospel'. He also has other numerous initiatives through which he plays the roles. His fourth Igbo novel 'AJO ENYI' was the first to ever win the Indigenous Writer of the Year Award in the Nigerian Writers Award, and was also the first to ever win the Pita Nwana Prize for Igbo Literature. Izunna has transformed many lives through his books. He has motivated many youths to become creative and productive, and he is a role model to many students. Izunna Okafor, as young as he is, started pursuing his writing career during his secondary school era because he cherishes and has lots of interest for education and literary works. His books have been widely appraised and applauded by known men, notable authors, co-young authors, lecturers, school heads, literary critiques, teachers, reviewers, students and so many other people who have come across them. His main objectives towards writing include: 'To completely obliterate, eradicate and abolish the wicked and inhumane acts of people the world which are gradually becoming cultures and traditions of the world'. His aim towards writing is also 'To expose and oppose the illicit and ungodly behaviours people engage and find pleasure in; to promote literary understanding; to revive and revitalize our ailing languages especially Igbo language (his mother tongue) which is gradually sinking and dying day by day. Through his writing, he also intends to motivate and inspire his fellow youths, enhance the love for literary works , to cultivate and propagate effective reading culture in the lives of people especially Students; thus promoting academic excellence. Izunna Okafor is mainly known for his professionalism in the creative writing. He is equally known for his immense contribution in the literary field of study; in the promotion of igbo language and other basic academic fields of study. His books are highly creative, interesting, educative, informative, entertaining and helpful to all human being of any age bracket. They touch various areas and ramifications of life in respect to what are happening in the world today, and they teach moral. These books have been sold in thousands of copies in different parts of the nation. Izunna Okafor has featured and participated in so many writers seminars, workshops, conferences and writers awards. He has also been featured in the literary programme called Literary Forum, being anchored by the Anambra Broadcasting Service. Izunna has won and been nominated for various writers  Awards including The Nigerian Writers Award/Indigenous Writer of The Year 2015/2016; Society of Young Nigerian Writers/Pita Nwana Prize For Igbo Literature 2015; Nigeria Heritage Icon Award/Young Writer of the Year Federal Republic of Nigeria 2016; Merit Award from The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (2016); Award of Recognition From The Students' Union President, Unizik (2017); N.Y.S.C. Essay Competition 2012; SLAM Youth Hero Award/ Innovative Youth of the Year 2016; Award of Academic Excellence from The National Association of Public Administration Students (2016); Inspire Award/ Outstanding Youth in Academic 2017; NAPAS Academic Icon of The Year 2017; AEYCA/Outstanding Youth of the Year 2016; Youth Writer of The Year 2016; Starlett Entertainment Award/Creative Writer of the Year 2016; Award of Excellence from The Society of Young Nigerian Writers 2016; The Future Award Africa/ The African Prize for Education 2016 among other awards, prizes, recognitions and nominations, including the ones mentioned earlier. He has been published in so many magazines, websites, literary blogs and journals both nationally and internationally. Izunna is a member of various writers' associations and organisations including The Society of Young Nigerian Writers of which he is the state Co-ordinator for Anambra State Chapter. He is also The National Auditor as well as The South-Eastern Zonal Infomation Secretary of the SYNW. He is the ambassador of Read Across Nigeria in Anambra State. Izunna hopes to be one of the contemporary African Writers that would make greatest imparts in the African continent and the world in general through his writing.
